简 介
小男孩杰米（Stephen Archibald 饰）在爱丁堡郊区一个贫困的矿区长大，他生活在一个物质和情感极度匮乏的家庭里，童年充满着痛苦的回忆。杰米的母亲被送进精神病院，祖父母都很冷酷，他日渐变得阴郁和狂野。最终他通过应招国家服务机构，结识好友罗伯特——一个年轻中产阶级英国人。渐渐地，男孩受到艺术的感召，而这挽救了他的一生。罗伯特介绍新书给杰米，与罗伯特的友谊，杰米变得乐观，同时他也重新构筑了未来的期望。
比尔·道格拉斯的三部曲（《我的童年》、《亲人们》、《回家的路》）详述一个年轻男孩的成长经历。这三部影片中变现的粗野情绪是惊人的。机位及拍摄手法明显受到杜辅仁科、费穆及小津安二郎的影响。道格拉斯的自传体影片曾三次获得柏林电影节大奖、并曾获威尼斯银狮奖、英国作家协会奖及萨瑟兰郡奖。英格兰埃克赛特大学甚至设立了比尔·道格拉斯研究中心，尽管他一生只拍摄了四部影片。他的自传体三部曲是关于感动、和解及回归的名作。
