一部刻划“父权阴影"的亲情喜剧，由编剧马克斯．阿普尔根据他祖父的真实故事发展而成。主人翁是一名波兰裔的老面包师父洛基，他的孙子麦克五岁时父母双亡，开始跟他同住，但直至麦克长大成人，结了婚，生了孩子，洛基却仍然想左右他的生活。导演彼得．耶茨将这部描述祖孙情的电影拍得相当幽默风趣，也有不少感人的时刻。彼得．福尔克化老装饰演这个古怪而固执的祖父，无论化妆和表演都令人激赏，还曾经提名奥斯卡最佳化妆奖。
