简 介
古琦（格伦·克洛斯 Glenn Close 饰）的丈夫去世后，她和两个侄女卡梅林（朱丽安·摩尔 Julianne Moore 饰）、科拉（丽芙·泰勒 Liv Tyler 饰）过着相依为命的生活。科拉的女儿艾玛回到了母亲身边，并且在此邂逅了名为杰森（克里斯·奥唐纳 Chris O'Donnell 饰）的警察，两人双双坠入情网。
一天，卡梅林震惊的发现，古琦竟然自杀了。担心这件事情会影响家族的声誉，卡梅林决定隐瞒此事，并且将现场伪装成了入室行窃杀人的犯罪现场。卡梅林的举动让古琦的老友威尔斯成为了第一嫌疑人，然而，威尔斯在小镇上有着非常良好的口碑，没有人相信他会成为一名杀人凶手，更何况他杀的人是古琦。
