简 介
两年前的搭车人杰克掉在古生物学家阿瑟博士车中一个住址簿，阿瑟去还给杰克时，意外听说，杰克因谋杀他有钱的母亲，已被处以绞刑。阿瑟大吃一惊，因为案发时，杰克正在他的车上。两年来，阿瑟一直在外面，现在刚刚回来，无法证明杰克无罪。阿瑟深感内疚，可是他发现杰克的家人并不对杰克的冤死感兴趣，这引起他的注意。阿瑟调查了家庭中的每一个成员，最后知道了真相。本片是典型的克里斯蒂式的推理侦探片，描写人们在道德问题上面临的窘境以及相应的种种表现，它直率地抨击了刑法。影片情节错综复杂。蕾切尔的闪回镜头用黑白画面表现，使观众易于掌握时空的跨度，也为蕾切尔及她的死因蒙上一层神秘色彩。本片的演员阵容强大，主角均为国际影坛较著名的演员。扮演阿瑟博士的是加拿大籍著名演员唐纳德·萨瑟兰，他在中国与加拿大的合拍影片《白求恩》中扮演白求恩，他的儿子基佛·萨瑟兰则因在美剧《反恐24小时》中出演男主角杰克·鲍尔为我国观众所熟知。
