简　　介   

　　玛利亚（玛姬·麦克娜玛拉 Maggie McNamara 饰）、安妮塔（简·皮特斯 Jean Peters 饰）和法兰西斯（桃乐茜·麦姬尔 Dorothy McGuire 饰）是在机缘巧合之下相遇于罗马的三位美国姑娘。在许愿池里，三人许下了各自的愿望，希望许愿池能够给她们的未来带来好运。
　　乔治（罗萨诺·布拉兹 Rossano Brazzi 饰）深深的爱慕着安妮塔，却因为自己拮据的经济状况而选择将这份爱慕深深的藏在心底。玛利亚一心想要攀附有钱的迪诺公爵（路易斯·乔丹 Louis Jourdan 饰），可是虽然她费尽心机，可毫无成效。弗兰西斯给著名作家山德威尔（克利夫顿·韦伯 Clifton Webb 饰）做了十五年的秘书，任谁都能看出她的心思，可是，当山德威尔终于决定接纳她时，却发现自己患上了绝症。
